What brought me to CSO?

The opportunity to work hands-on with globally recognised cybersecurity tools aligned perfectly with my transition from an infrastructure-focused role into a cyber-focused engineering role. It was a chance to accelerate my growth in a space I was passionate about, supported by best-in-class technologies.

What keeps you at CSO?

Without a doubt, it’s the people. The camaraderie we share across peers, managers, partners, and even with our customers is something I genuinely value. There’s a strong sense of mutual respect and collaboration, and I’ve always felt supported and empowered in my role.

How would you describe the culture at CSO?

CSO’s culture feels like an extension of family. It’s open, welcoming, and grounded in trust. Despite everyone coming from such diverse backgrounds, there’s a shared drive to learn from one another and help each other grow. We genuinely care about each other beyond our job descriptions. The opportunities to cross-pollinate knowledge and develop as well-rounded cybersecurity professionals are truly inspiring.

What brought me to CSO?

A few things converged at just the right moment:

The tool stack. CSO runs the exact mix of platforms I’d been itching to master, global‑tier tech with room to experiment rather than merely maintain, with lab environments that us techies can get our hands dirty with.

Life balance. After years of 24/7 SOC shifts, the prospect of a true 9‑to‑5 cyber role (and seeing my family at dinner while it’s still hot) was hard to resist.

Flexibility. Being trusted to work from anywhere took the sting out of long commutes and let me swap “traffic jams” for “coffee walks.” and “push-up challenges.”  While still having access to an office-space where I can collaborate and escape the walls of home when needed.

What keeps me at CSO?

Autonomy, not micromanagement. I’m given objectives, the resources to hit them, and the freedom to choose the best path to do so.

An ever‑evolving toolbox. New integrations and vendor training keep the work fresh and my certifications folder happily growing.

People worth logging in for. CSO has a knack for hiring smart, down‑to‑earth teammates who make troubleshooting feel more like a co‑op mode than solitary confinement. I can have genuine laughs with them amongst the craziness of cyber.

Leadership that listens. Ideas travel up as easily as they travel down, and support is a two-way street, where I can have a skip meeting with my 1UP manager as frequently as I do with my CEO.

How would I describe the culture at CSO?

Connected from coast to coast. Even spread across Australia, we stay in sync through genuinely engaging All‑Hands, lively chat channels, and all-hands-kick-offs.

Fun‑loving yet professional. We’ll debate MITRE techniques one minute and swap barbecue tips the next, both conversations taken equally seriously.

Judgment-free collaboration. Asking for help is encouraged; offering it is expected. Wins are shared, and missteps are framed as lessons, not liabilities. Managers care about the “human behind the hoodie,” celebrating milestones and checking in when life gets messy.

What brought you to CSO?

I was keen to work for a company with many Government customers, as it was an area I had not previously dealt with, so I was eager to broaden my skill set in dealing with the public sector. He mentioned that the business was “family first,” which was important to me as a first-time mum.

What keeps you at CSO?

One of our values is ACCOUNTABLE ‘We do what we say we will do…’ That always rings true. After a year and a half at the company, I can stand by this. We lead with kindness and understanding, put our customers first and ourselves last, unlike traditional sales teams. Another one of our values, COMMITTED, ‘we go all in.’ What I like about this is that we commit to upholding our integrity, walking away when something is not right, and providing genuine, honest feedback to our customers, our peers and as an organisation.

How would you describe the culture at CSO?

The culture at CSO is perfect for me, to be honest, we all live busy lives, both personal and work. We have a team of human beings, which means that when real-world scenarios pop up, we help each other out and make it work. We have regular get-togethers, good office banter and a flexible working environment. Our Leadership and People & Performance teams are always open to ideas, from setting up charity events to new ways of working, partnerships or strategies.
